As you can see we work with blocks of 1.5 hours, in which two matches of 30 minutes each have to be played.

On Saturday evening we will organize a grand BBQ for all teams participating in our tournaments. In the early hours of the evening, between the Golden Tournament group stage and the Silver Tournament relegation (more information below), we will take a break to enjoy a BBQ in the sun outside!
Together with butcher “Wim Tubbergen”, who is an experienced BBQ organizer, we can offer you a complete BBQ for only 2 euro per person! This works only for the players in our tournaments, so that is anyone who bought a TUP ticket. Visitors can enjoy the BBQ for a mere 7 euro per person.
Silver Tournament relegation
We had to make some room for the BBQ, because the time-schedule is very tight. Thus we have altered the structure of the ST a little bit. The bottom 3 teams from both groups will no longer face each-other in another group stage. Instead, the teams ranked 3rd will get immediate placement for the ST playoffs, while the bottom teams face each-other in a relegation match. The number 5 of Group A will play the number 6 of Group B and vice versa. The winners advance to the ST playoffs, the losers drop from the tournament.
These teams will play one map less than in the older structure, in exchange for a grand BBQ. We hope you agree with us that this is definitely worth it!
We need to know exactly how many people would like to enjoy the barbeque, so please comment on this post if your team would like to BBQ and with how many players. If you’re a visitor - please reply and state you are a visitor!
Deadline: Thursday 2nd of July - 16.30 CET - we need at least 40 people!
PS. Or make a post here!
For several reasons we slightly had to change the tournament set-up and we also had to adapt to the unusual amount of ten teams. We understand there are a lot of questions about this from both players, visitors and possible spectators. Therefor we’re hereby giving you a detailed explanation of the tournament structure for this weekend.
Golden Tournament
The Golden Tournament will still be our main tournament and as originally planned all teams will automatically participate in this tournament. We will start off with a group stage. Divided in two groups of five all teams will face everyone in their group, thus playing four matches. These matches will be one map.
At the end of the group stage the two top teams from each group will advance to the playoffs. Group A winner will face the number 2 from group B and the other way around. The winners will obviously face each-other in the grand final. The playoffs will be Best Of Three maps.
Silver Tournament
The three bottom teams from each group (Golden Tournament group stage) will participate in the Silver Tournament. This tournament will start with two small groups of three teams each. These teams will play each-other once on one map.
At the end of the group stage the two top teams from each group will advance to the playoffs. Group A winner will face the number 2 from group B and the other way around. The winners will obviously face each-other in the grand final. The playoffs will be Best Of Three maps.
We have agreed upon a timetable with WZZRD for the complete event. Although I will not show you the detailed version (according to dunc it’s too complicated for a normal human being), I can give you some rough outlines of what will happen at which day / time:
As you can figure out we will use the Saturday to play all group stage matches for both the Golden and the Silver tournament. We will also play the Golden Tournament relegation matches on the Saturday evening. On Sunday there will be 12 teams left to play, 8 in the Golden tournament and 4 in the Silver tournament. These teams will then face eachother in the quarter- and semi-finals and try to make their way to the grand finals. The prize ceremony will start at 16.00. We would like to clearly state that although there are no official tournament matches on the Friday evening, each team will need at least one player at the event at Friday 20.00 CET to confirm their participation.
The potential signups are looking pretty good. This page on ETF2L shows 14 teams that will potentially be attending the first Community LAN event.
However - we’re still a couple short! The minimum number we are aiming for would be 16 teams. At the moment we think there are still a few teams that could sign up - ahem Imperial! - and the Mix Page isn’t particularly active either, even despite original posts sounding incredibly promising for the mix teams.
I don’t think anyone doubts that the event will be great fun - both in terms of the gaming to be seen and socially - so please, get yourself signed up!
On that note, WZZRD are now accepting e-mails regarding accomodation. Please note that all of the good rooms are “first come, first served”. All the information you’ll need about accomodation can be found on our website.
SteelSeries have announced their support of the first Community LAN event and they’ll be providing hardware prizes for the silver tournament. This is great news for the teams entering the silver tournament and also provides exceptional credibility for The Community LAN.
